Share and Borrow Rarely Used Items

"Howdy neighbor! Say, that's a nice mower...new?
Can I borrow it to trim my little lawn?"

EZ Navigator - Reduce Main >>> Share and Borrow

As long as you make sure you get it back, why not let the neighbor use it? When we need an item for a particular job or project, but probably won't use it on a daily basis, why not borrow it from someone else? On the other side, if you have something and know someone else may need it for a weekend something-or-other, lend a helping hand!

  1. Automotive tools can often be rented at the nearest automotive retailer.
  2. Borrow lawn equipment from the neighbors or family if you have a small lawn and can't justify buying a mower.
  3. Construction companies might let you rent their tools (brick saws and paving tools), for a fee.
  4. Small kitchen appliances can be shared throughout the neighborhood (mixers, blenders, etc.).
  5. Local Rent-a-Center's have furniture, electronics and appliances for rent. (That big screen TV might be great for the Big Game, but do you really need to spend $4000 for one of your own?)
  6. If you're moving a short distance, a friend or family member with a pick-up is a great assett. It'll save you hundreds of dollars on moving truck fees.
  7. Carpool (yes, carpool). It'll save gas by sharing rides with coworkers. Just make sure that you offer to drive every once in a while, or atleast offer a few bucks for gas!

There are many things that we can share in our communities. Open up your garage once in a while and share. Make sure that everything comes back in good shape, and make sure you don't abuse the kindness of others. If you need to keep track of things, keep a sign out sheet on a clip board to know who has what and when. We'll all spend less, create less waste, and maybe even make a friend or two in the process.
