The following information on recycling collections has been supplied by Upper Yoder Township. If you have any questions, please contact the Upper Yoder Township Municipal Offices at 255-5243.

Upper Yoder Township has a five year contract with Waste Management for collection of Recycling from the Towship residents. Collection is curb-side and the fee charged is $20.00 per year for this service. Bills are issued in January/February and allow 60 days before the due date. Bills are issued for the entire year's collection in a one-time billing.

Collection is on the same day as garbage collection, but collected every other week, every two weeks. Recycling is mandator for residents and businesses, however, the businesses can elect to have collection done privately. They are to report their yearly tonnage collections to the Township at the end of the year.

The Township has blue recycling bins that are numbered and issued to the residents. Bins were given out with the inception of the initial program in 1991. The cost for any additional bin or a replacement bin is now $11.00 a piece. When moving out of the property, the bin stays behind with the property. When the residents file their "Moving Permit" with the Township office, their names will be taken off the records.

Items recycled are sorted at the curb. If there is anything that is not acceptable, it is left behind and is to be placed in the regular garbage.

Brush Pickup
The Township conducts a brush pickup twice a year done by the Township Road Crew. This is usually conducted in May and October. The exact dates are established and published in an annual newsletter that is issued to the residents in April.

Leaf Pickup
Leaf Pickup is conducted by the Township in September-Octover by the Twp. Road Crew depending on weather when the leaves begin to fall. The Township has a leaf vaccuum machine to collect the leaves once they are gathered by the residents and deposited curb-side.
