The
Haul-All Recycling Depot (aka the Big Blue Bins)
Cambria County's Haul-All drop-off recycling system
was purchased from VQuip, Inc. with Act 101 grant money from the Pennsylvania
Department of Environmental Protection. Each of the depots in Cambria
County will have containers for newspaper, magazines, corrugated cardboard,
"tin" and aluminum cans, and #1 and #2 plastics (bottles,
jugs and jars).
The bins have special openings that prevent many non-recyclable items
from being put into the wrong bin. (For example, although engine parts
are made of metal, they will not fit into the round openings of the
can bins.)
Each
site also has a separate waste container for plastic bags that have
been used to carry recyclables to the drop-off.
**
Please note: though this bin is marked for trash, it is not
for household or other waste. It is meant solely for the containment
of bags used to carry recyclables to the bins. Leaving items
such as boxes or other trash bags laying around the bins is
considered littering and is illegal.
We urge all users to reuse the bags or find a suitable bag recycling
agency. **
Cambria
County's Drop-Off Sites:
Cambria County has a number of those smaller communities
where curbside collection is not particularly cost effective. Yet,
many people in those boroughs and townships want to recycle. In
response to this situation, the County has developed a network of
rural and small-town drop-off depots. When the system is fully implemented,
almost everyone in the County will have access to convenient recycling
opportunities. If you community does not have curbside collection,
a drop-off site will be nearby. Click
here to find which site is closest to you.
What Will
It Cost Us?
Drop-off recycling is completely free of charge.
The depots have been funded by a grant from the Pennsylvania Department
of Environmental Protection (DEP) and will be serviced by the Cambria
County Solid Waste Authority and their contracted recycling firm.
Ultimately, we hope
that this system will help the people of Cambria County save money
by significantly reducing the waste they produce. We are also optimistic
that more recycling will lead to less burning of solid waste or illegally
dumping waste in natural areas.
If you have any questions
about recycling, the bins, or any other matter, please feel free to
contact the Cambria County Solid Waste Authority during our business
hours, or e-mail questions
here.
