EZ Navigator - Recycle Main >>> Appliance Recycling Although the Cambria County Solid Waste Authority does not sponsor any appliance recycling events, the local chapter of PA CleanWays holds appliance and tire recycling events in the Spring and Fall of the year. Appliance and tire events are often advertised in the Tribune Democrat and other local newspapers prior to the event. Collection sites include Johnstown, Ebensburg and Patton. To learn more about PA CleanWays and their sponsored events, please click here. If you need to dispose of a refrigerator or other appliance, the CCSWA does have other options for you. We recommend that when you purchase a new appliance, have the delivery persons haul away your old appliance. (This will assure that you will avoid the headache of removing it yourself later.) For more appliance recycling options, see our "What about..." page, or contact the CCSWA by calling toll-free 1-877-2-DROP-IT-off. Municipalities A number of municipalities in the County also provide for annular cleanups that include collection of appliances and other bulky wastes. If you live in a community with private subscription, you may have to pay an additional fee for collection of bulky items. Check with your municipal office or waste hauler for more details. Scrap Metal Recycling During other times of the year, appliances and other metal scrap are accepted by scrap yards in the region. If separated, the more valuable metals may actually be purchased by scrap dealers. These may include auto batteries, aluminum, copper and other valuable metal alloys as market conditions dictate.
