Elephant Pencil Holder

Have a spare soup can laying around? Instead of throwing them out, add some common
craft items to make your very own little "elephant" pencil holder!

Materials Needed:

  1. Soup can
  2. Glue
  3. Scissors
  4. Tape
  5. Crayons or markers
  6. Construction Paper
  7. Googley Eyes

 

Procedure:

  1. Take a the construction paper and trace the can to get a strip that will cover the outside of the can. Cut out the paper.
  2. Use a piece of tape to fasten one end of the paper to the can. Wrap around the can and glue other end to the tighten.
  3. Cut out the ears and nose section from the remaining piece of construction paper. Click here for a printable pattern! (Opens in a new window for you to print.)
  4. Fold the trunk accordian-style.
  5. Glue the ears and trunk to the can as shown.
  6. Glue googley eyes above the trunk.
  7. Accent the ears and face with crayons or markers.
  8. Fill with pencils, markers, crayons, or anything that you like!
