Egg Carton Tulips

EZ Navigator - Kid's Corner >>> Recycling Crafts >>> Egg Carton Tulips

So, what do you do with all of those empty egg cartons? Hopefully not throw them away! With these great little projects, you can have beautiful "tulips" blooming in your house all year long!

Materials needed:

  1. Clean cardboard egg cartons
  2. Scissors
  3. Green chenille (pipe cleaners)
  4. Glue
  5. Paint

**Parents will need to help cut through the egg cartons.
Please be careful**

Procedure:

  1. Separate a few of the egg cups from the rest of the pack, saving the little "buds" between the cups.
  2. Trim the cups to resemble tulips - refer to picture.
  3. Trim the "buds" the same way. These will be on the bottom of the flower to provide a more realistic look.
  4. Paint the larger cup your favorite flower color. Paint the small bud green.
  5. Once the paint dries, poke a hole through the centers of the bud and flower.
  6. Thread a piece of green chenille downward from the cup, leaving about an inch hanging out of the top. Bend this inch in half to create the 'stamin'.
  7. Put a drop of glue on the underside of the flower to secure the chenille. Thread bud upside-down onto bottom of flower.
  8. Place a drop of glue on the underside of the bud to secure chenille.
  9. Bend chenille to form leaves, or stick straight down into container. Enjoy!
