Illegal Dumping Surveillance EZ Navigator - Illegal Dumping Main >>> Illegal Dumping Surveillance To curb and eliminate the illegal dumping activity in Cambria County, the CCSWA has been investigating the use of surveillance equipment in order to catch illegal dumpers in the act. What we have found is state-of-the-art camera systems that record during all hours of the day and night, take still photographs and video, and are triggered by various different motion-sensing devices.
This is a sample of what a photo taken from dumping surveillance equipment might look like at night. The purpose of these cameras is not to prosecute offenders for dumping, though it does serve as great evidence in legal proceedings. Our purpose is to deter the practice of illegal dumping. Be it through embarassment of being caught on film doing it, or the threat of legal actions being taken, we feel that the use of this equipment will better serve the County in stopping this horrible activity. When surveillance equipment is used, it will be set out for random intervals at random sites. The Authority will not announce where and when the cameras will be used, but please be assured that if you are caught on camera, we will be making good use of the information.
